The emphasis is on process – the book shows how jobs were made, rather than focussing only on finished projects. Like many of their contemporaries, 8vo were working during a period of profound technological change in the design profession – ‘On the outside’ places 8vo’s work in this context, charting the change from paste-up to desk-top.
