Written, edited and designed by Hamish Muir and Mark Holt, ‘Octavo Redux’ provides a complete record of Octavo, 8vo’s highly influential self-publishing project produced as a series of eight issues. Using specially commissioned high-resolution photography, printed by Göteborgs Tryckeriet employing cold-UV full-RGB spectrum hybrid offset technology with stochastic screening, ‘Octavo Redux’ reproduces every cover and spread of the Octavo print-based issues, at full-scale in facsimilie quality. The publication features an extensive interview with Mark Holt and Hamish Muir by Adrian Shughnessy. Also shown are related background materials, including full-scale hand-made design mock-ups and type specifications which document 8vo’s working process pre-desktop computer.
